Since then there have been films and a TV series (when? where?!!!) It was written by Pauline Réage (yes, a woman), which was the nom de plume of Anne Desclos (1907-1998), who also wrote under the name of Dominique Aury...info and image (below) from the Wikipedia article (letter o) under various other meanings for 'O'.
